The demon-human erotica book was interesting, to say the least - barring setting, plot, character development, narration, imagery and rhyme scheme, all of which I didn?t pay much attention to because I skipped to the erotic parts. But while the junior forward may not be called upon to take the game-winning shot, break someone off the dribble or lock down the opponent's star player, Edwards is willing to do whatever he has to, and play as many positions as possible, to contribute.

Three years ago, Lorin Dixon was the buzz in the high school basketball world. Sites like Rivals.com kept readers posted on her progress. In fact, though only a sophomore, Dixon scored the highest on the SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness) test that year, which measures all-around athleticism.

Every time Kemba Walker steps on the court for the No. 2 Huskies and sees all-conference players and future pros all around him, he can't contain his excitement. Walker's big, schoolboy grin never left his face in the postgame interviews following his first preseason game in a UConn uniform.

With plenty of new faces adorning Arkansas' basketball roster this season, it might be tough to have such a young team fully prepared to play at the start of the season. Arkansas coach John Pelphrey said his team isn't quite ready to compete. "We're not ready yet," Pelphrey said.
Bart Pohlman | Sat, 15 Nov 2008 07:17:56 GMT
As year two of the John Pelphrey era begins at Arkansas, it's perfectly clear this season will be far different from last. The coach remains, as do a few players, but the rest of the roster looks as different from a year ago as Michael Jackson does from his "Thriller" days.

1. Get push up the middle Statistically speaking, Nick Santiago and Arthur Jones have been a bright spot for the Syracuse defense this year. The Orange's starting defensive tackles have combined for 17 tackles for loss and 5.5 of SU's nine sacks this year.

Poor Charlie Weis. Never thought I'd speak those words, but there they are. Never thought I would pity someone who coaches Notre Dame football for a living, who makes millions and who has more bling than Paul Wall's grill. First thing I see when I wake up Tuesday morning is a column calling for Weis' dismissal.

The University of Mississippi mascot, Colonel Reb, is not allowed on the football field, and legally it?s not allowed at Butler High School either. The high school, located in Huntsville, Ala., will have to pay the university $250 per year or change their rebel mascot due to trademark infringement.

President-elect Barack Obama will officially become president on Jan. 20 2009; however, speculation on his presidential cabinet and what an Obama administration would look like as already begun. That speculation won't stop here, as I peered through my crystal ball once again and came up with this list of names for a possible Obama administration.

Bottled water manufacturers have concocted a false sense in American consumers that somehow tap water is not safe to drink. What's worse is that studies have shown that some bottled water companies merely fill the bottles with tap water and resell them to the consumer. Smartwater symbolizes this shift.

It's vital that we continue sending robots and satellites to Mars. By doing so, we can determine if it's feasible for humans to inhabit the planet for an extended amount of time. I realize sending humans to Mars is a goal that will take many years to achieve, but we should be taking every possible measure to advance our technology to the point where we can perform round trips.

It is going to take the world a long time to accept alternative lifestyles. It's important to put the past behind us and keep things in perspective. As long as no one is harming anyone, there shouldn't be so much contention. Extremism in any form, whether it be on the conservative side or liberal side, is only disruptive and not appreciated by anyone.

Deep down, the individual might still have a shred of goodwill left, but society, the conglomeration of individuals, corrodes our inner goodness so deeply that we now think it's OK to pretend to kill each other and that taxes are a necessary evil.

Anything to decrease the dependency on foreign oil should sound great to a nation of SUV-loving, drive-my-car-two-blocks-down-the-road- instead-of-walking nation. Since the choice of transportation for many Americans involves driving cars, an investment in alternative fuels such as naturals gas is necessary. While most fuels discussed are for the energy grid, only natural gas and ethanol have the potential to fuel America's cars and trucks any time soon, according to the U.S.

As a Christian university, the Baylor community should conduct itself with a compassionate understanding that we are all imperfect, rather than condemning those who are not in line with traditional Baptist theology. This university is not exempt from real-world issues -- including unplanned pregnancies -- and simply ignoring problems does not constitute a resolution.

The Bush years demonstrated that pre-emption is a bad option, but it may yet prove to be the least bad option on a policy menu filled with worse options. If Obama fails, then Bush was right, and it is not unlikely that pre-emption, the cornerstone of the Bush doctrine, will again see its day, this time brought to you by Democrats.

The idea of change has been tossed around a lot this past election. While the term may seem vague to many, Barack Obama?s presidency in its most basic sense will be a departure from the current ideology about the role of government. And the current state of the cell phone industry serves as a textbook example of the failure of a non-interventionist approach to regulation.

The amazing thing about this Election Day was that the American people rejected lifetimes of deep-rooted pessimism and took a risk. They made the choice for the impossible. And on November 4th, 2008, the impossible became possible.

The American Founding Fathers were acutely aware that the government they created was not ideal. Many did not expect it to last. However, their legacy was not that they created the world?s most democratic system, but rather that they built the foundations for a stable democratic society to thrive in response to evolving social and political climates.

Today's Republicans pride themselves as the moral backbone of this nation, utilizing the Bible as the vehicle for outlandish claims of moral superiority. Yet the current criticism of Obama's tax policy as a move towards socialism contradicts one of the basic tenants the New Testament.

November is a time when a man can be a man and, if she so chooses, a woman can be ? um, French. As per the rules of a true believer, neither blade nor shaving cream may touch the body from midnight November 1st to midnight December 1st. As a first time practitioner of this time-honored tradition myself, it has indeed been an interesting journey.

The majority of California is in favor of the ban, and those voters showed their support by voting to ban gay marriage in this election. Those who have differing beliefs, the minority, do not have the right to contest a law that was legally and properly passed. Continuing to uphold the precedent of abiding by the law is more important than any single idealogical issue.

A uni-partisan dominated government goes against the very ideals set forth by our forefathers. A single party can never encompass the views of all the Americans; true, it may represent a majority of them, but this still leaves a considerable percentage of Americans whose views cannot be efficiently passed through Congress.

Americans didn't wake up on the morning of Nov. 4 a far more liberal nation than it was four years ago when it reelected the same man that is receiving the lions' share of the blame for the Republicans' general failure in this election. What America demonstrated on Election Day was a rejection of George W. Bush and the Republican Party he led.

In light of the recent economic downturn, Princeton's culture of giving faces a definitive test. With its multibillion dollar endowment, giving to the University may understandably not be near the top of many alumni priority lists. But alumni who are able to give unrestricted gifts can - and should - give the University more flexibility to help it ride out economic downturns.

College women are so committed to looking identical that they will endure all kinds of winter weather in those thin, black spandex pants. People like to complain about the hideousness of Ugg boots, but I am of the opinion that if it?s cold enough to be wearing boots, it?s cold enough that you should be wearing pants thicker than a dryer sheet.

To hear the historic revisionism coming from some conservatives since the election, you would think Sen. John McCain and his sidekick, Princess Bonehead, were well on their way to a soaring victory when their wings were clipped by the big bad liberal media. Nevermind the feckless campaign, the capricious response to economic turmoil and the toxic connection to President George W. Bush; McCain lost because the media prefers communists to war heroes.

America?s drunken love affair with the notion of change has led the nation to completely overlook the shortcomings that continue to ravage our country. While the results of Nov. 4 show the world that racism may no longer be a prevalent issue in America, irrefutable evidence reflects widespread hatred for lesbians and gays.

We?re all doomed to feel, at least once every semester, that an academic climax has happened upon us by surprise, as all of our classes collide in one grand, brilliant, messy explosion of rushed research, frenzied visits to TAs and rapidly accruing testing center late fees. Our eyes are red, our speech is slurred. But thiis time my procrastination was the root cause of my state of madness.
