With a student/faculty ratio of 17:1, students get a hands-on approach from faculty members who are able to take a personal interest in student progress. You'll also have plenty to choose from since ASU offers a whopping 227 majors. You'll love it here if you want to be part of a tight-knit community. It's also easy on the wallet--it's listed as one of the best values for education by both the Princeton Review and Kiplinger's.

Looks nice and have heard good things about it. Even got a letter in the mail from them.

AppState is absolutely the best school in the US. The mountains make a beautiful surrounding and the quality of the school is great. The Education I received, although challenging at times, proved to be worth every moment. I use all the skills form the advanced accounting classes, even the skills learned from the public speaking and business writing classes I took. ASU also offered an Internship as part of my education. I interned with a now "global" corporation, for which I now work and travel the world. Factoring Company.
The Prudent Student (October 12, 2009)
Appalachian is committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability in the forms of alternative energy, economic development and research that benefits the state, nation and world. More than 60 faculty members in various disciplines focus their research in these areas. Appalachian's environmental leadership is evident through its sustainable development program, appropriate technology program, environmental science degree program, Appalachian Energy Center, biodiesel research, student-led Renewable Energy Initiative and Sustainable Energy Society, and more.

Jeremy Ferrell visited Brazil's Iracema Sugar Mill and Ethanol Plant as part of a Fulbright-funded short course on biofuels. Ferrell, an instructor in Appalachian State University's Department of Technology, was one of 15 individuals from the United States selected to participate in the program. (
The Prudent Student (October 12, 2009)
One of the top five masters degree-granting universities in the South.

This school's the perfect size. Not too big not too small.
