It's like you're going to school in a movie because the weather is generally so perfect, the classes challenging, the professors readily available, and the student populous so diverse they must've held auditions to fill every cast type. There's never an empty seat for a football game and it's hard to ever have a bad on such a beautiful campus. The wealth of diversity here offers a freedom that few schools can: whether it's a 4 year party, 4 years of hard core studying, a plethora of job experiences and internships, or you choose your own adventure.
The Prudent Student (October 11, 2009)
For undergraduates, life is active and encompassing. When you live on campus classroom activities and friendships overflow into social spaces. With more than 100 programs scheduled during the academic year in each residential college, students can choose from a range of academic and cultural sessions literally located in their own backyard. But student life reaches beyond the residential halls. With more than 200 student organizations and an active Greek community, you'll find plenty of opportunities to make friends and pursue your passions all over campus. Undergraduate and graduate students share facilities and opportunities including a world-class fitness center, live concerts and other arts and culture events, a campus cinema, and nearby South Beach and Coconut Grove. All students carry the Cane Card as an identification card for campus activities and services. You'll also have a unique Cane ID, which offers access to technology on campus.
The Prudent Student (October 11, 2009)
Admission to the undergraduate program at UM is selective. Among our freshmen, more than 40 percent graduated in the top 5 percent of their high school class. In addition to prospective freshmen, we also welcome talented transfer students.
The Prudent Student (October 11, 2009)
Festival Miami, the annual music festival that opens the South Florida arts season, provides superior and diverse musical programming each year, while expanding academic opportunities and cultural enrichment to all of South Florida and its visitors. It's a musical experience no one should miss. The 2009 season is scheduled to commence on October 2 and conclude on October 30. Dean Berg's vision for the 26th season of Festival Miami presents 20 concerts over a four-week period. Each concert will fall under one of the four unique themes, which include: "Great Performances," "Jazz and Beyond," "Creative American Music," and "Music of the Americas." The goal of Festival Miami is to uphold and enhance the Mission Statement of the Frost School of Music by offering opportunities for music enjoyment and personal enrichment to as many residents and visitors of South Florida as possible. As such, Festival Miami strives to provide innovative programming that reaches across the cultural boundaries of the South Florida community. The community is invited to partake in all that Festival Miami has to offer - from world premieres and symphonic concerts, to chamber music presentations and jazz performances, and much more!
