As you would expect, Portland State University is a bleeding heart liberal, diverse and progressive university. It pretty much encompasses everything Portland is. Republican is a dirty word around here, some say it would be harder to admit a right wing allegiance than anything else you could imagine. There is also a pretty large alternative community as well. Between the jocks, geeks, angry liberals, international students and people from varying cultures and walks of life, they all seem to fit really well here. Many incoming freshmen are working adults ready to get out and change the world.
