You don't have to love the great outdoors to come to Paul Smith's College - but if you leave here without an appreciation of it, we'll wonder what you were up to. Paul Smith's is tucked among the mountains and lakes of the Adirondacks in New York State, and while that provides plenty of recreational opportunities, it's also a big bonus academically. The college's programs draw heavily on its location: hospitality, culinary and business classes benefit from being so near Lake Placid, an international draw just down the road; and science, forestry and natural resource programs turn the six-million-acre Adirondack Park into a giant classroom. In fact, the college's connection to the natural world is evident in many of those programs, giving students a leg up on pursuing environmental careers.
