This prestigious University was founded and inspired by the ideals and intellectual audacity of Benjamin Franklin. Some other lesser known facts, UPenn is home to America's first medical school, business school and law classes. As far as the student body goes there are several distinct types. One would be the brainy engineer, the artsy college student and the hardworking nurse, however they all blend quite well together. One common attribute is that everyone takes their studies seriously, keeping their strong academic tradition intact.

This prestigious University was founded and inspired by the ideals and intellectual audacity of Benjamin Franklin. Some other lesser known facts, UPenn is home to America's first medical school, business school and law classes. As far as the student body goes there are several distinct types of minds. One would be the brainy engineer, the artsy college student and the hardworking nurse, however they all blend quite well together. One common attribute is that everyone takes their studies seriously, keeping their strong academic tradition intact. Working hard and playing hard seems to be the dogma here.

Wharton offers more business electives than any school in the country, to complement its beautiful state-of-the-art facilities. With 2 cafes, multiple computer labs, classrooms of varying size, and advanced technology abounding, Huntsman Hall is in a league of its own. The dedication each student brings to the academic environment can sometimes overstep the bounds of cut-throat scholarly jousting, as represented in The Running of The Bulls, with strict curves applied to the grading scales in each class. To summarize, its location in Philadelphia and elite status combined with unparalleled resources and faculty commitment make it such that any time you enter Huntsman Hall, it's business time.

Between the amenities offered by the city of Philadelphia and unique opportunities on campus, Penn is one of the most unique and prestigious schools in the country.

This is NOT PENN STATE! This is UPENN! Big difference for anyone who doesn't know.
baratunde (July 29, 2009)
Ummm?.THIS YEAR IN PARTY SCHOOL RANKINGS BUDDY! Look it up hahaha! Think before you speak...or type.
Boubouille (July 18, 2009)
Yeah it's not Penn State?they have an amazing football program and like 50,000 kids. But?it?s the #^ school in the country and some of its programs (e.g. Wharton) are #1 in the nation. When's the last time Penn State Was #1 in the Nation at anything?
rurouni723 (June 24, 2009)
What I think that commenter was trying to say is that Upenn may be in a crummy area, but it has a fantastic private police force (2nd largest in the entire state of PA) that protects the safety of its students and property. The approximately 6x6 block area that makes up the campus seems not to fit in the urban landscape and offers a refreshing Ivy-League, rustic feel to students. The facilities are top-notch and access to restaurants, entertainment, and nightlife galore make it a great place.

Arigjht enough here... Penn State is a big party school with lots of sports teams and fun, Upenn is a scfhool without that but everyone coming out gets great jobs and then gets to enjoy all of those things. Let's let that settle it.
firecharger (June 13, 2009)
Penn is nestled in a not-so-great area of west philadelphia but exists in its own self contained world of historic beauty, academic excellence, and worldly experiences.
